Responsibilities for a Chaplain with Phoebe Berks:

The staff chaplain is responsible for coordinating and conducting various religious activities and providing for the spiritual needs of the residents and their families. Provides pastoral care to Phoebe Berks staff. Provides mentorship to CPE students and is responsible for volunteer development and community networking. Works collaboratively with other departments. Understands the differences in resident needs based on diverse services offered on the Berks campus, such as Independent Living, Personal Care, and Healthcare Center, and develops appropriate spiritual care programming for each setting.     


Requirements for a Chaplain with Phoebe Berks:

  • Master of Divinity degree
  • Ordained for ministry and in good standing with one’s faith group/denomination; endorsed for chaplaincy by one’s faith group/denomination.
  • At least three years’ experience in a pastoral ministry setting
  • Completed four units of CPE. 
  • Board certified or eligible for board certification by Association of Professional Chaplains/APC, National Association of Catholic Chaplains/NACC
